Tourism innovation day 2007

Highlights of the fifth Tourism Innovation Day included an inspired presentation by Tim Smit (chief executive of the Eden Project) explaining how 'Future Truths' and 'Monkey Business' can be innovative tools to help create a successful tourism business and a presentation by Gerben Baaij, key thinker and project manager of Rembrandt 400 showing how widespread collaboration in Amsterdam created a winning event. The first insight into VisitScotland’s new domestic target market segmentation was brought to life through skilled actors, and attendees heard up to the minute consumer research on attitudes to the environmental impact of tourism from TNS Travel and Tourism.

The event ended on a high note with Geoff Ellis of DF concerts describing how he went from running a small venue in Glasgow to developing Scotland's largest music festival, T in the Park.  Finally, lively workshops allowed interaction with some of Scotland’s best examples of collaborative tourism projects.
