Growth Fund for St Andrews
The St Andrews Partnership is the latest successful group at the VisitScotland Growth Fund panel. The group were awarded £16,000 for their marketing project which aims to utilise web 2.0 channels (such as Facebook and blogs) and to make more effective use of the internet, both strategically and tactically to gain maximum impact for tourism businesses in St Andrews.
The project will pull all tourism businesses in St Andrews together by creating a St Andrews web portal: - www.standrews.co.uk The site will be a high profile gateway to existing St Andrews websites and VisitScotland.com and will drive increased traffic to them as well as promoting the town under a common brand for the first time. The vision is that the portal will become the 'must visit' website for all those considering or already planning a visit to the town.
The VisitScotland Growth Fund is part funded by the European Union and is designed to support tourism groups throughout Scotland in marketing their products and services to maximum potential. The fund is open to national, regional and local groups to help them reach new target markets and increase visitor numbers. The fund can support groups with 50% of approved total marketing costs over a one year period - a minimum award of £3,125 to a maximum of £65,000.
